Why use native integration with Microsoft 365

The Microsoft 365 synchronization allows you to automatically deploy your new email signatures to company employees. This implementation is transparent to users. No action is required on their part during installation.

In the same way, every change to the signatures is automatically reflected in Outlook. Therefore, there is a strong interest in using this native synchronization.

How does the Sigilium integration with Microsoft 365 work?

Thanks to its native integration with Microsoft 365, the Sigilium add-in allows for the synchronization of email signatures in Outlook.

Upon activation of the Sigilium add-in, signatures are deployed and updated across the various Outlook environments, namely:

  • On the Outlook application, desktop (on your PC or Mac)

  • On the Microsoft 365 webmail

  • On the Outlook application, on Apple mobile devices: iPhone / iPad

  • On the Outlook application, on Android mobile devices

In practical terms: a change in your Sigilium interface is automatically reflected on the signatures of the affected users in Outlook. This applies across all devices using the application.

Activation Steps

They are described in this detailed article. You can activate the Sigilium add-in from your Microsoft console and deploy it to the tenant.

This can be done for all of your users, or only for a portion. You are in control; it is up to you to define the scope.

Difference of synchronization between Sigilium and Microsoft 365 or Entra ID

Integration with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, what is the difference?

The two synchronizations are different and completely separate and technically distinct. They do not serve the same purpose.

  • The native integration with Microsoft 365 allows for the deployment of email signatures in Outlook. It can be activated at any time, for a chosen user scope. This is defined at the scope level from your Microsoft 365 tenant.

  • The native integration with Entra ID (e.g., Azure AD) allows reading the information from the directory (user groups, last names, first names, emails, etc.) and displaying this information in the email signatures of employees. Any change in the directory is therefore reported automatically. The creation and deletion of users as well.
    Learn more.

Here are two concrete examples to illustrate the difference and the benefits of independent synchronizations.

Concrete example 1:
One can add or import a file of users and enable synchronization with Microsoft 365 to deploy email signatures without activating synchronization with the Entra ID directory.

Concrete example 2:
One can enable synchronization with Entra ID and retrieve users on their Sigilium account without effectively deploying email signatures in Outlook. This allows waiting for the right moment to deploy them.
